RENEWAL IN THE NIGHT

Shady days
and cocaine nights that never end
til I wend my way home
past dawn’s birds chirping in the pines.

We talk and be again
you and me re-being we
in our mutual nudity
of mind and past and friends.

Real time
time of being
of being in the unselfconscious here and now
not to be remembered or dwelt upon
not an invesunent in the memory bank
of some future good old days
but real time
unmeasured unallocated
unjustified free
time spent being
being me.
