THE CANADIAN TWO

Waiting at the bus stop
near the signalled crosswalk
on a lazy Sunday afternoon
watching the traffic go by
a pretty blond cyclist
helmet and Spandex
and muscled legs like a boy
pulls up and stares at the empty street
pushes for the WALK button
sprints across on the WAIT signal
Thirty seconds later when she’s a block away
five cars are stopped
by the empty crosswalk
